To attract top clients and land high-value projects, it's critical to build a strong skill profile on Flexing It. This profile acts as your online resume and is the initial point of contact for more than 3,000 potential clients.

To stand out, your skill profile needs to be well-rounded, detailed, and tailored to the type of projects you want to pursue.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to build your skill profile on Flexing It:

Step 1: Log In to Your Flexing It Account

After signing up on Flexing It and verifying your account, log in using your email and password. Once you're logged in, you'll be guided to the next steps.

Step 2: Add Experience and Education to Move To Your Skill Profile

Here, you'll detail your past roles, highlighting your responsibilities and achievements. You can upload your resume, and our CV parser will automatically fetch the information, or you can add and edit it manually in the following sections.

  • Clearly state your designation (e.g., "Senior Consultant – Financial Strategy").
  • Mention the organisation or client you worked with.
  • List the start and end date of your engagement.
  • Use bullet points to describe your roles and responsibilities and measurable results (e.g., "Led a team of 5 consultants to optimise client profitability, increasing revenue by 20%").

Proceed to fill out your education details as above and then press NEXT.

Step 3: Fill up the Create A Skill Profile section carefully

The Skills section is where you get specific. Flexing It allows you to list out multiple sub-skills, and it's important to include the ones most relevant to the projects you want to secure.

In case you want to specify experience in multiple industry across a single sub-skill, select the sub-skill again and mention your industry.

Fill out all the fields, including FlexTags, as it will help us match you to relevant projects.

  • Mention your deep-domain expertise: can be sector specific(e.g. Vaccines, financial inclusion) or knowledge niches (AI, Six Sigma).
  • Use 1-2 words ONLY, separated by commas (e.g. AI, Six, Sigma)
  • Select from suggested tags or add your own.
  • Use keywords that clients might search for, such as "strategy consulting," "project management," "financial modelling,".

Step 4: Write a Strong Professional Summary in the Write About Yourself section

Your Professional Summary is the elevator pitch of your Profile. This is where you highlight your key strengths. Keep it concise, but impactful:

  • Mention your years of experience.
  • Highlight your industry expertise.
  • Emphasize any unique skills or qualifications.
  • Add your Linkedin profile
  • Set your availability for freelance/consulting
  • Preferred duration of projects (short-term vs. long-term engagements).

Being transparent about your availability will help you attract the right kinds of projects and manage expectations effectively.

Step 6: Review and Submit Your Profile

After entering all your details, click to make sure all the information is stored. Double-check everything for accuracy before hitting the Submit button.

Once approved from our team, your Profile will be visible to clients looking for consultants with your skills. You can always come back and update your Profile in the Edit Profile section.

Invest time in crafting a profile that reflects your expertise and unique value proposition. The more effort you put into your Profile, the more likely you are to attract high-quality projects that align with your goals.

With your skill profile complete, you're ready to start applying for projects and growing your consulting career on Flexing It.

All the best!
